Background & Objectives: In case of inappropriateness of the dimensions of chairs or when users feel pain and pressure in their lumbar region due to poor posture, damage to the SPINE can be prevented using some additional supports. The aim of this study was ergonomic evaluation of one of these supportive products named “SPINE FIT”.Methods: In this descriptive and cross-sectional study, in the first stage, five ergonomists evaluated the product regarding its dimension, adjustability, material, conformity, and manufacturer claims. Then, three groups of workers including office workers, office workers with low back pain, and bus drivers filled out a self-administered questionnaire after using SPINE FIT.Results: For the first stage, an acceptable adjustability and dimension was found. Conformity for different kinds of office and bus seats was mostly fair. Findings from the second stage revealed that the subjects in three groups were satisfied regarding seats comfort and ease of use. Concerning the conformity of SPINE FIT, it was in good level among office workers, while different levels of conformity were observed by drivers of different models of bus. Conclusion: SPINE FIT supports back region based on its supportive role in pelvis, lumbar vertebrae column and thoracic SPINE. Moreover, SPINE FIT features that reduce sweating can improve individuals’ convenience.

Abstract:

Background: Osteoid osteoma is a benign tumor that occurs in the SPINE in 10-20% of cases. Tumor presents with pain and/or deformity and usually causes torticoli in the cervical SPINE, and C-shape painful scoliosis is the most common presentation in the thoracic and lumbar SPINE.Methods: We studied 19 patients with established osteoid osteoma of the SPINE and reviewed their symptoms, site of involvement, imaging and treatment options. We also followed patients to determine the recurrence of tumor and outcome of deformity after tumor excision.Findings: Painful torticoli was the most common presentation of osteoid osteoma in the cervical SPINE (75%). In thoracic and lumbar lesions, painful scoliosis was the most common presentation (80%) but the tumor can be a painful condition in SPINE or even only a deformity. Typical night pain was seen in 9 patients. Tumor excision was the curative treatment although 3 patients needed posterior fusion because of scoliosis curve progression after tumor excision. Conclusion: Pain is the most common presentation of osteoid osteoma in SPINE and is often accompanied by deformity. Whole. body isotope bone scan and CT scan can help in making the diagnosis. In patientswithcurveCobbanglemorethan40 degreesatI the time of tumor excision, posterior spinal fusion is required.

Abstract:

Introduction: The pharmacy information system plays an effective role in managing patients' medication information through informing physicians about unsafe medication prescriptions, prescribed overdoses, and possible drug interactions. The present study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the pharmacy information system using the HOT-FIT (Human, Organization And Technology-FIT) model in selected teaching hospitals at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. Methods: We conducted this cross-sectional study in 2019 in two stages. First, we presented the extracted criteria and confirmed them in the panel of experts. In the second stage, the pharmacy information system was evaluated from the point of view of 118 users of the system, namely the secretary or nurse who register medication requests in the clinical and specialist departments of HIS. The evaluation results were analyzed using linear regression test via SPSS, version 21. Results: In the specialized panel, 24 criteria were confirmed, then, we designed a questionnaire according to the HOT-FIT model which was provided to the users. According to the result, 55. 37% of the users rated the system's performance as favorable. Results showed that according to the analysis of 17 hypotheses of the HOT-FIT model, there is a significant relationship between aspects of technical, human, and organizational factors, as well as net beneFITs. Also, there was not a statistically significant relationship between the aspect of information quality in the technical factor and the aspect of the system use in the human factor. Conclusion: System use and information quality criteria increase the satisfaction of information system users. In this regard, in the design of the hospital information system, attention should be paid to the compatibility of the system with the tasks of the user and the usefulness of the expected output. Also, we believe that more studies should be conducted on the information quality and system use criteria that lead to user satisfaction.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Objectives: To identify the factors that are associated with the development of scoliosis and its manifestations.Summary of the background data: Painful scoliosis is a well-recognized presentation of osteoblastoma but as a result of small number of previous reports the outcome and habits of tumor in SPINE is not well-known.Methods: Ten factors were assessed including: age, sex, duration of symptoms, site of the lesion in individual, Cobs angle at presentation, chief complaint at presentation, neurological involvement, type of treatment, recurrence of tumor. Results: Fifty Percent of patients had scoliosis. All of the lesions typically were present on the concave side of the curve. In the thoracic and lumber SPINE 80% had scoliosis, but no scoliosis was seen on cervical and sacral regions. All the patients were under 30 years. The mean time to diagnose at our center was 18.4 months. All of the patients with cervical involvement (2 patients) had deformity (Cock Robin) and restriction in range of motion. The lesion was in posterior elements in all of the cases and localized in only one side of the SPINE. Chief complaint was pain in 67%, deformity in 16% and both (pain and deformity) in 17%. Radiological exam was diagnostic in 58% of the cases. Conclusions: Findings support the concept that scoliosis is secondary to asymmetric muscle spasm. The most common complaint is pain and then deformity. In the cervical spins deformity and restriction of motion are chief complaints. In children, spastic pain was more obvious than deformity. Treatment is curettage as wide as possible. There was no recurrence.

Abstract:

Background & Aim: Iatrogenic paraplegia during SPINE surgery is a devastating complication. Preventing such complications is important. (IOM) serves to help such patients/surgeons with successful surgeries and better post-op outcome using the IOM modalities. Methods & Materials/Patients: A retrospective data review was done on 153 consecutive patients. Somatosensory- Evoked-Potentials (SSEPs), Transcranial-Motor-Evoked-Potentials (TcMEPs), Electromyograms (EMGs) & Triggered-Electromyograms (TEMGs/screw stimulation) were studied. Results: 153 patients (n=104 females, n=49 males) with average age of 17 years and cob-angle ranged between 40-140 degrees were studied. TcMEP changes were noticed in n=56, 36.6%.TcMEP change resulting from surgical maneuvers n=43, 28.10%. TcMEP changes resulted from direct injury to the cord n=16, 10.45% & mechanical intervention (decompression/hemivertebrectomy/correction) n=15, 9.80%. Mal-positioned screws n=12, 7.83%. Within this group n=9, 5.8% presented with both SSEP and TcMEP changes. Changes in TcMEP, due to anesthesia n=10, 6.53%. EMG irritation lasting>15 seconds in lumbar roots, n=14, 9.15%. Within this group, TcMEP drop noticed in 4 patients suggesting 25% predictability were observed. TEMG changes in n=81, 52.9%, where in n=42, 27.4% screws were<6mA.TcMEP change, n=12, 7.83%, all fell under this group of screws below 6mA.3018 screws were placed in 153 patients with 19.73 screws/ patient.89 scre ws, 2.94% fell under dangerous/severe category. Conclusion: Our data showed that enhanced safety with comprehensive IOM in deformity surgeries, hence IOM was extremely important during such procedures.
